He is showing a crude form of dominance or he might have gastointestinal problems and has poor control. A 40+ year old "man" should know better and be more respectful. Ask him if he would treat his mother so disrepectfully. Tell him that you find it offensive and that it is sexual harassment. I'd say the louder you are about his rudeness the more he will try to control it. You are a temp. Unless your family is starving I'd say no job is worth that kind of humiliation. What a jerk he is!

I say grab the air freshener and start spraying as soon as he comes into the room and keep spraying even as he talks. You wont have to say a word. Your actions will definitly say whats on your mind, and if he comments just tell him your afraid that maybe he ate beans again for breakfast and you're just getting prepared for it. Or that ,gee, smells a little musty in here dont you think? Have you ever done anything to offend him? Say anything behind his back that he may have found out about? Stood around the water cooler gossiping much longer than the break? He may be upset about something you did and is just a jerk boss that uses subtle ways to show his anger or the man has serious intestinal problems.? Good luck!

Well, not everyone grows up. He probably finds it amusing, particularly if you make a face, say something about it, or just plain acknowledge his behavior, be it on purpose or just general reflex to something terribly unpleasant. If you haven't spoken to him yet I would suggest doing so, tactfully. If you have and he still insists on behaving this way, contact his supervisor to help resolve the issue. Tread lightly tho because an unfortunate result might be your dismissal or at the very least even harsher fumes or treatment from your boss.

because he is twisted and a weak individual. his control of the situation makes him feel superior and than he gets off by subjecting you to his actions. everyone here giving him the benefit of the doubt, nooooo, medical or not he knows whats been happening just as you do. it will continue because it can unless you change, try to embarrass him (doubt it would work) maybe he may stop or find another victim or leave the job, good luck

Hahahahaha!! My god you have a sick boss!! Maybe you should go pass wind in his office!!! Seriously though your boss is strange - maybe he is not doing it on purpose though; maybe he has a wind problem!! He probably farts all the time, not only in your office!!
I think you should get some air freshener and as soon as he starts leaving the room start spraying it (so that he knows you are spraying it) - he'll soon get the message!!

Coz he's your boss and he knows he's gonna get away with it !, and the more fuss you make the more he is probably gonna do it ?.
Can't you send an anonymous E:Mail or letter to his boss complaining, as what he is doing is disgusting !!!.
Either that or a sly bit of graffiti naming and shaming him might do the trick ?.

He's an asshole if he's doing it deliberately. Older men often have problems with digestion (hence the term "old fart") - are you really sure it's deliberate?
