This is a form of "sensory overload" because your brain is over working itself and sending excessive charges throughout your nervous system. When your brain is overworked, to put it simply it sends bad signals to your body. In doing so it causes "stress" which can make you feel sick as your muscles tense up. The chemicals in your body are also released in the wrong frequency when you brain is over loaded so they are at the wrong levels which causes depression and anxiety that can also make you feel sick. This is also the reason why when you see, smell or taste something that is repulsive to you it can make you throw up. Your mind's interpretation of what in took in was too much for it, it assigned emotion to it and then over reacted to it. By the way, it is possible to "die from a broken heart" because of this glitch in the human "brain".

the emotional brain connects to the physical brain.

emotional stress causes the release of chemicals, hormones and nerve messages around the body. this is a protective and survival mechanism - to protect the body from completely breaking down, especially if trauma/shock levels are high.

however, this can cause imbalances in the body leading to tummy problems, headaches, skin/eye problems, menstrual problems etc. if the emotional trigger persists over a time, then the problems become bigger.

some people are more susceptable than others to the various physical problems in the first place.

I fell in "love" when I was 9 (I'm 33)! With a boy who was 14 (our parents were good friends) - nothing ever happened between us - we were kids, but the feelings were there. My crush continued as a teen, and fizzled when I moved to college and got married - so I thought. I met up with him last year when visiting my country (haven't seen him 7yrs.) - great connection, vibe, best friends! My marriage has not been working well for the last 2 yrs. and there was a spark! We were kissing, and talking, and I finally told him about my feelings. His answer was down to earth - "you're married....it would be wrong". I was devastated!
For almost a yr. I was in pain; from no energy, to sleeplessness, to panic attacks, to crying spells, to no orgazms (1yr.!!!). I'm getting help now, together with my husband - never told him of my childhood love though. I still think of him - EVERYDAY. Emotions hurt. No way to escape it. Take it from me....20 something years.....and I still wonder if he was/IS my true soul mate. I might never know.

When I've been in love, being dumped and when grieving if a loved one has died. This makes me feel physically sick with no appetite and have loss of sleep. I'm an emotional wreck

Each and every one of us has had this horrible experience. None of us are immune from hurt feelings. It's stress, and stress makes the body go on alert. It doesn't know the difference between a hungry lion ready to attack us, or someone or something hurting us to the core, so it reacts the same way for each event. Just remember, that the feelings do pass eventually.

Emotions cause hormones and other chemicals to be released into the blood stream - adrenalin for instance when faced with danger. These chemicals more throughout the body and in excess can damage the cells of the body. This could then lead to illness.

There is a lot of difference betwween being sick and feeling sick. Emotions can make you feel low and thus tend to look sick, exhausted and frustrated.
Emotions can make one look really down and out.
But it hardly matters, if you can make the emotions work in a positive manner for you, it can make you look stunningly shining and georgious. that smile and that grace of being admired can sure floor the people around you.

This is happening to me right now... I would love to know this.
I think the emotions lead to a build up of stress and anxiety, which make up physically sick.
