Nuclear. You had to spend 18 years with your parents and siblings. Why in the world would you want to spend the next 30+ with them and their families? I want my time with my immediate family...spouse, kids, dog and cat. We can always visit the rest of the family.

It all depends on the nature of you MIL and FIL. If they are good / Supporting and give you independence after marriage and the same goes for you if you give them respect and take cake of there needs then joint family is the best.
But if you are an independent person and want to do things your way then its better to be in a nuclear family.

Both have their own pros and cons.
In nuclear family, you are independent and you also need to worry about all your chores and responsibilities.
In joint family, there are others to shoulder your burden but you also end up standing in for someone else. Its give and take. In joint family some ends up doing more and other one may not even be doing his/ her share of work.
In nuclear family, you need to spend for every favour which in the joint family you may get for free or even take those services for granted.
But still, the chice is all yours.

If both husband and wife is working joint family is great support and if one is not working nucelar family can be great fun.. Once kids are around again Joint family can be fun and one can share joint responsibility and live the life with ease to accomdate day to day routine requirements. It depends on Fun part is how the family goes together as joint family otherwise its mesh.. so It goes with the situtation and people i think..

nuclear because you won't have people telling you how to raise your children. joint because you will always have help running the house. depends on what you think is best anyway
