This is a very common problem with all versions of Windows platforms that go back past Windows XP Prof.. If you are lucky the blue screen, "saying dumping physical memory, means that a "critcal error" occured while you were playing a game. Your pc will shut down and you will see a blue screen, "dumping physical memory", because the memory is corrupt. I have used every platform that Microsoft has ever made. An when it happen to me the dumping of physical memory, the pc dumped and shut down. Just restart your pc an all should be fine, becasue the system has the ability to fix the "critical error that accured while in use. Hope this is the case for you as I never had to reformat an it has happen many times. Does not happen with my current platform, Windows XP Prof. Clinical Psychiatrist, France

Yes, I am getting the same problem, since I started using the Auto Updates, esp IE 7 - there was a terrible problem installing it as well.
I wonder, in a perfect world, do you think Microsoft would make sure those bugs were gone before they offer the software and refuse responsibility for their mistakes....?

Try the F8 option another poster said. If Last Known Good...doesn't work the use F8 again and choose Safe Mode, uninstall anything you recently installed.

on the screen it should give you a few errors. There is probably something on there that says something like nv4_disp.dll or maybe another .dll file. Update your graphics and sound drivers might fix it. You may have to f8 boot to safe mode if it won't boot normally.

That would be a blue screen of death. It means your screwed, you'll have to re install windows. If your really lucky you can repair it through a recovery console, but that requires knowledge of DOS commands. You'd be better off starting from scratch.

press F8 as you start up,
select "last known good configuration"
turn updates off.
If you still can't get in in "last know good config"
boot with windows xp CD in, and do a repair.
