scrub as much off as you can with washing powder. don't use anything too abrasive, you will risk damaging the rubber. whatever is left don't worry about. i asked my washing machine repair man for a new rubber and he told me the mould would not cause any problems

I use a ScotchBrite, "NO Scratch " sponge, the kind you use on ceramic stove top surfaces. I mix bleach and water and spray it on the rubber seal, and allow it to set a bit, then I wipe it off with the ScotchBrite, dampened. All those mold and mildew removers are just bleach products, so I just use straight bleach. Don't worry about the rubber seal. Bleach won't harm it, black mold will do more harm to it, as it eats through porous surfaces.
I usually run a bleach load of laundry, following that. Tip....Leave the lid of your machine open after laundry loads, so it can dry out completely. It's the moisture on a closed lid, that creates the fungus.

Hot soapy water and a nylon scouring pad is the most eco friendly solution. Otherwise you could use a spray on mould and mildew remover, available from any supermarket. Then wipe off with a damp cloth (remembering to wear rubber gloves).

Wear a pair of rubber gloves, and use a cleaning rag, an old toothbrush, and bleach. And make sure to wipe it down well afterwards so the bleach won't get on your dark laundry.

I clean for a living I agree with the ones about using bleach and a toothbrush would work,
First you might use vinegar and baking soda together, when you do that the vinegar will foam up when you add baking soda, then with a rag use some diluted bleach & water to disinfect. I use vinegar and baking soda a lot.

HG (Haggesan) Mould spray will clear it but after that you should regularly use a descaling agent like HG Descaler. Neither of these products will attack your seals but will act as a preventative and prolong the life of your machine. HG products are only available from independant diy or merchants and not from the 'sheds'.

Just use a nylon scourer and a little diluted bleach should do the trick.
