100% Aluminum engines (pretty much industry standard since 2000 for weight, cost and fuel economy) need the proper oil. The oil passages are VERY narrow and are VERY susceptible to clogging and results in engine damage (in the long term)If you don't use the right kind of oil - or worse, becomes too thick and drops the oil pressure to dangerous levels with the same end result. You can purchase your own synthetic oil in bulk to save some money and still have the dealer change your oil (since they are less likely to keep your oil and use their oil as a substitute). If the manufacturer went to all that trouble to name a specific type of oil, then this is the oil that yields the best results and you should use this brand at least during the warranty period. Unless an authority of some kind disproves the use of a specific type of oil or specific brand with a monetary guarantee of some kind should they be wrong, please follow your owner's manual. $58 every 3-5k miles or $6k for a new engine plus labor. It's not a difficult choice when you break down the cost at $20 a month.

The Tires Plus $18 special is for Kendall Synthetic BLEND oil, not FULL SYNTHETIC like the Mobil 1. Full synthetic is what your car specifies.
Do not use a synthetic blend if your car specifies full synthetic oil. $40 saved now will cost you $4,000 later. If you are still under warranty and they are specific about using Mobil 1 full synthetic oil, use the Mobil 1.

Mobile1 has a different formula then most synthetics, I'm not sure on how different, but I have head that Mobile1 is incompatable with other synthetic oils. I do not know if this is true or not. I would stick with Mobile1 as it is a good known name, and since the vehicle was designed to run it, you know its not going to do any damage, or change or hamper the preformance of the vehicle in any way. I would not trust a synthetic oil change for under $20, I would not trust a synthetic oil change under $40. $60 for the oil change sounds about right, I'm assuming its in american funds. At the shop I'm in, and the other shops around, we usually charge about $80 for a synthetic oil change, and thats in Canadian funds.

That depends on what specifically indicates that... Was it the dealer who told you to only use Mobile One? Or does it actually say that in the warrenty or owner's manual of the car? Mobile One is a really good oil, which is why it is so expensive. All motor oils are not the same, and you will get what you pay for. If you can spring it, go for the Mobile One or another higher grade oil. But definately stick to a name brand oil, don't go for a store brand. And whatever brand you use, be sure to stick with that brand. You wont notice a change right away if you switch brands or go for a cheaper brand, but it can lessen the life of your engine in the long run. Good Luck

WARNING: Using anything other than what is specified in your owner's manual could (and probably will) void your warranty. GM is notorious for finding any and every excuse to void a warranty or weasel out or warranty repairs. There has to be someplace other than the dealership where you can get Mobil 1 synthetic oil...

Unless your warranty specifies that you use the oil recommended by the dealer, any oil is fine. Synthetic or otherwise. I've never heard of a car designed to use a specific oil. I've seen dealer recommendations, but NEVER one that says to use a certain one...

No, the bogus oil isn't the reason to your issues. that's okay to blend oils, yet you purely lose the earnings of the bogus oil whilst doing this.- you are able to make sure at Mobil website- pass there for different FAQ and their solutions. the only problem I even have ever heard from guy made oils is on older autos. Gaskets have a tendency to enable extra of the oil leak via than widespread as a results of generally used molecule sizes being smaller. This assumes you already are dropping some oil. hence your spending numerous funds purely to have the oil be wasted via leaks.
