I use baking soda a lot to help with household chores because it's effective, sans fragrance, eats odors, it's non-toxic, and effective. However I was wondering if it has antiseptic properties since I hear it is actually a type of acid.

Not that I'm aware. It's an odor absorbing agent, as well as an abrasive. Anything that absorbs odors, won't be antiseptic, because it "absorbs" odors, caused by bacterias, which makes it, in itself, it's own cleaning agent, but not an antiseptic.

I do not think so. I use baking soda to brush my teeth. It is non toxic. Cleaning houses I use baking soda a lot. And vinegar. Baking soda is good for shining silver wear. I do it all the time. Sometimes I mix vinegar & baking soda ( it will foam up) to clean my pots and pans. I use to see Mennonites @ my church camp and they use baking soda & vinegar a lot too.

I'm not really sure either: I frequently will use Lysol or dish soap along with baking soda.
