While "expiry date" is technically correct, most English-speaking people would use the word "expiration date."

Instead of "available date", I think you mean "current date."

The EXPIRATION date must be LATER than the current date.

April 1, 2007 is EARLIER than April 7.

Good luck.

Expiry date refers to the final date an item is valid for use.
All credit cards have an exipry date.
The expiry date must be later than today's date if you are to use the item.
10/April/2007 is later than 7/April/2007
1/April/2007 is earlier than 7/April/2007

Referring to an earlier answer most English people would say expiry date.
Expiration - more in line with people breathing their last - not the same thing at all in this case.

The Expiry Date (we usually use 'Sell By' or 'Use By' if it's for food that's perishable, ie., dairy food) must be later than the Available Date (should be Date of Production).

So, the 10th April is later than the 7th April
and
the 1st April is earlier than the 7th April.

Hope that helps.

If you are talking about a product expiry date then it should be written like expires after 07/04/2007 or best before 07/04/2007. Spartan

no sweat man, umm... i think its later becuase it refers to a date, not a numerical value, such as.... water inside a cup. so, greater would refer a something besides the date. what i am trying to say is "go with later, and earlier instead of greater and lower" have a nice day
