The mean diameter of the Earth is 12,746 km. The equatorial and polar diameters are not equal to each other. The equatorial diameter is 12,756 km and the polar diameter is 12,714 km.

No matter how you say it, it has no diameter. It is not round; rather it is oval in real terms. The influence of the Gravity of the Moon distorts the imaginary circle. The Earth is a Sphere in all acceptable terms. It has Mountains and it has Seas, it has Seas with no water and we still insist that it is round. A circle is nothing more than a shadow of a sphere and in that shadow there is nothing round. Contradictions remain and in science there can not be "acceptable" contradiction of terms and dimensions. I will not satisfy you by giving an approximation. The Math Major can do that, and I am not He.

Well, the distance around the equator is almost 25,000 miles, so the diameter must be roughly 8,000 miles.

Approximately 8,192 miles, but the Earth is oblately spheroidal in shape, so it is greater if measured around the equator, than pole to pole.
