The best way to the worst way--
1. Use a grinder and grind it off
2. Use Vice Grip + lots of WD40
3. Heat and Pipe wrench
4. weld another nut to it. Lots of work
5. Hammer a socket smaller than the nut. You destroy the socket and the nut and this usually wont work for very tight nuts.

I always like to use a pair of vice grips that have been over tightened. The teeth make a great grip and usually it can be removed. The nut's already bad so it doesn't matter if you damage it more.

If you are hampered by a rounded off nut, buy a nut-splitter at any hardware or automotive store ie. Canadian Tire ,or General Tire Stores.

Take a socket that is 1 or 2mm smaller than the nut, hammer it on, then use a ratchet to remove it.

You mean a stripped one, right? They have tools for that, it happens all the time. Ask at your local car repair place for the specific tool. If you catch a guy in a good mood, he might even do it for you.
