Seems that as we grow thru and into life, and our physical appearance changes, our feelings about what 'others' think regarding our 'looks' also changes. . .
youth = great concern with peer opinion;
maturity = less concern with peer opinion.

Why do you think this is our reality?

Thanx for sharing your thawts . . .

I think as you get older, you see more and more family and friends die. You start to wonder if appearance is all that important in the very short game of life. You have become more accepting of your limits and the little aches and pains you notice everyday.

Yes, it's nice to take care of yourself but it isn't the end all, be all. I cared about my appearance until I was in my early 40's. The working out started to hurt so much that I backed off and now I definitely show it. As a matter of fact, I may get asked to play Santa Claus this year. My hair is not quite as white but everything else is there including the beard.

Short answer..... You get comfortable in your own skin after awhile and the pressure is off to be handsome/beautiful. Then you enjoy life even more.

I'm 30 but I look 23 so Yay! When I hit 30, I didn't even flinch because my outward appearance and my personality don't adhere to that stereotype. It kind of makes me feel mysterious to be getting older yet others are clueless. Very Interview with the Vampire.
