Why does profound language make me feel so much better when reason fails? It's like my brain refuses to be reasonable any longer and i end up swearing without even realising it.

Because we have to have something that expresses that we are so angry we cannot even put our upset into coherent words. Swear words are useful and something has be used - they are not intrinsically offensive, they are just letters - it is the thing they express that is upsetting.

You cannot have a "bit" of Tourettes. Tourettes patients are born with it. It is lifelong and there is not a cure.

I realize that this is not the answer you are looking for. You want to know why you feel better after you curse. Less than 10% of cases have coprolalia. It is the rarest symptom, but the most ridiculed. Please learn before you assume.

It makes us all feel better, it's just that some of us scream it in our heads instead of out loud. It doesn't mean we scream any quieter.
