Is there a double standard? Imus was wrong and is being suspended, but I have to ask why is his comment any worse than the hundreds of rap & hip hop songs that belittle women of every race and use worse terminology and more graphic sexual terms on a daily basis.

I have always been under the impression that Imus's show was for entertainment...not news.

Imus has repeatedly apologized and Jessie J. and Al S. have "nothing better to do than run to every incident" related to "RACE"They have made a living from running to every racial word for 50+ years! Why can't they get a "Life" and do the good that they claim they stand for. There are hundreds of their people in New Orleans homeless.Take off the suit and tie and help build some homes for these homeless people.Everyone makes mistakes .How dare JJ accentuate the negative his whole life!Imus was only repeating what he has heard from other rap singers. !And just listen to the repulsive lyrics used in these rap songs that our children are subject to everyday!!!If you don't like tatoos and false hair ,don't continue to pile it on .Imus is just a man and he repeated exactly what he has heard from other people of one race say to each other.Thoses are the first words that come out of thier mouth when angry. Some of us find that amusing. His show has never been completely serious. He considers himself to be somewhat amusing, even though this was a bit over the edge for the airwaves .We are suppose to forgive..Lets not jump on the bandwagon to throw him off of what he has done well for so long.He is raising monies for the good of others.Too bad some people can't be fired ,since they don't have anywhere to be fired from?

Let's see, several years ago Rev Jackson referred to New York City as "Heimy Town". A reference to the Jewish population of New York. He never had to apologize or look contrite for the cameras the way Imus did. Al Sharpton is as big a racist as the best of them, yet he can projecct a "holier then thou" image and get away with it just because he is black.

You bet there is a double standard. Blacks can call blacks 'hos' and that's acceptable, yet is a white calls blacks the same thing there is a big storm of self-serving protest and whining indignation. This is becomeing the norm, and it is ridiculous. What we see in cases like this is the apology is NEVER accepted by these self-righteous bigoted loudmouts (Sharpton and Jackson) and they demand firings and exile.

If Imus wants to call someone a nappy-headed ho that's his business, even if some hypocritical crybabys, who use the same terms themselves for the same reasons, don't like it.

Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton can't shakedown the rap music industry. That would be black on black crime.

Imus is a white guy with deep pocket companies backing him. This is about nothing more than a check clearing.

I mean no offense to anyone, but it's because IMUS is white! Rap music has been offensive for years, and if I don't like it I don't listen to it. Same should go for IMUS, if people don't like him don't watch him. It's come down to reverse racism.

yes there is a large double standard... the black Failureship in this nation.. ( al sharpton - jessie jackson) have made millions on the " OH MY GOD someone said a word" while they allowed kids to believe doing well in school is a "white" thing... or it is cool to drop out... these 2 men alone have done more harm to black America than the kkk ever could.
I keep waiting for the real black leadership to stand up.. but it doesnt seem to exsist anymore.. I guess years of drops out have removed any real leadership at all

Comedians get away with saying a lot more offensive things. The secret is to label it "Entertainment".

White people can only degrade themselves to avoid being racist.
African Americans can degrade everyone without being called racist.
