I turned on my engine and after several seconds it just stopped. First, I checked my fuel gauge. There was enough in the fuel tank so that's not the cause. Luckily it happened at home. Yesterday the engine worked just fine as I drove about 240km that day.

I'd need a load more information to be able to help you. What exactly happens when you turn the key? does the engine turn over? any noises? does it try to start? What happened when your engine stopped, did it just cut out or splutter and die? Is it petrol or diesel?

If your engine is turning over as if it's trying to start but not starting then leave it a while then try again, you may have just flooded the engine.

if your engine isn't turning over and theres just a noise then the starter moter may be damaged, try to bump start it.

If theres no noise at all the it could be electrical, check the battery is connected and try to jump start it.

Check your spark plugs for dirt/corrosion.

It could be that your fuel pump has failed. If thats the case you should probably see a garage.

If you can anwser the questions at the top I may be able to provide further suggestions.

Hope this helped

Engines need three things to run: fuel, air, and spark. You had fuel, so I'd check the other two. Not much more can be said with so little info. What does it do now when you try to start it? If you don't have battery power, it's probably your alternator/generator. If it has power but nothing happens when you turn the key, it's your starter motor, etc.

Not knowing what this car is? fuel getting to the fuel injectors? spark plugs sparking? You did not say if the engine turns when starter is.
