Many boards designed for C2D Conroe support up to DDR2 800.

I believe what you got is a high performance dual channel RAM designed for enthusiasts who overclock their gaming rigs. At 800Mhz, its advantage could be low latency/tight timings. Your new RAM's full potential could be realized if you overclock your processor.

if I were u, I would first certify this is really a 1200 ddr2 ram

just like the days ddr2 667 first introduce, many product claim to be 667, but actually they can't run at that speed

if it's really a 1200 ddr2, there could still be problem
usually such "fast speed ram" claim to A speed, but will use another B speed as spd
worst situation is : it can only run A speed when u increase the voltage for the ram, it is actually overclocking no doubt

Before you buy another board, go to your present boards home page and see if you can find out any thing from them. Like going into the bios and making a change there. Is your processor able to use that much ram, if not change your ram to what your processor can use best.

Yes, sounds like you'd need a new motherboard. Something like the DFI Infinity NF UltraII-M2.
