Since many Democratic candidates used stem cell research as a part of their platform in the last election, it will most likely not be in a bill that ends up on the floor for a vote until it gets close to the next election.

I do not think that tax money should not be spent on embryonic stem cell research. It has not proven to be a promising area of research. This can be seen because there are not private companies researching embryonic stem cells. All most all of the private research money is going in to adult stem cell research because it has proven to be much more promising as a cure for disease. I do not think the government should spend tax dollars on research that does not have enough potential for success to gain private sponsorship.

Do you have the S. number for the bill? It is important for scientists to perform medical research as it saves people's lives. If the science is fair and requires such cells, then, I see no reason barring the practice under controlled and responsible methodoligies.

I would prefer tax money be spent on research that could lead to new cures for diseases rather than having it wasted in open ended conflicts.

yes definitely but not private companies. only independent scientists and academia with no conflict of interest, then you would get reliable results.
