how do i connect my 2 computers?

i have 2 computers in my room and i want to play warcraft on 1 while fighting my sister on the computer so how do i get a LAN connection between the 2 computers?

To have both computer talking to one another you need to use a medium for that. In this case you have 2 options.

1- Have a router and connect both to a router, configure both to run DHCP, and make sure the router won't block them from seeing one another.
2- Use a "Cross Over Cable" which plugs in both LAN ports on the 2 computers, and use Windows to identify both.

My advice is the 1st solution.

I assume you need to share internet between the two pc's as well so you need a router/switch. (about $45). This provides the network you need, and usually also adds firewall protection as well.

With a router, both pc's plug into the router with standard cables, and they are then on same local network.

You should be able to see the other computer in the local network, and you can go into the router status and see what IP each computer has. Or run ipconfig from each pc.

You need a paired Ethernet cable to hook up the 2 computers

go to network conection and in network task chose SET UP HOME OR SMALL OFFICE NETWORK * use file and printer sharing for both computer * use MSHOME for name of conection (it`s defult , don`t change it )! restart them and conecting them with pluging lan cable and start playing !
when you do this you will see local conection icon in systemtry
for see other computer drive go to mynetwork place/mshome !
share files and drive for both computer to having accsec to other computer drives !
