I love to live in the middle of the city. I don't mind the traffic, and the noisy, or the busy city that will never go to sleep such as Las Vegas. But I have lived in different state in the U.S, And I always end up moved back to California. I love it there.

In the middle of the city.
I grew up in big cities and I love all the action and excitement and accessibility. And I feel so safe with lots of people around. I love being able to walk from an art gallery to a bar to a little chinese yum cha restaurant back to my door in a day.

NOT in the middle of the city--too many people. probably 5, but i'm not self-reliant enough to do that. so, to finally answer your question, 2.
