I gotta tell you, if you are a vegetarian and then quit eating plants, you will die of starvation. That won't be any fun! I really love trees too, but there is only so much a person can go and do about it. Heck, the U.S. is the most environmentally concious country on the planet and yet politicos such as Al Gore wouldn't dream of talking reform to their communist friends in China (the world's worst polluter and human/animal rights violator). They do this because they love cheap goods produced by cheap labor. Politicians (except for a few) are bought and sold on both sides of the aisle.

Illegal logging is a major factor in flood devastation of Philippines.

Decades of illegal logging, unusually high rainfall and geography have all contributed to the devastation wrought by storms that have lashed the Philippines.

The series of landslides and flashfloods that hit several parts of the country should serve as a wake up call for the filipinos to join hands in preserving the environment and stepping up reforestation.

I don't mind scattered logging, whatever that's called -- and i dislike the idea of clearing whole sections.

but i'm neither in the business nor in any other kind of informed position, so it's probably good that i'm not in charge. whatever the specifics, though, either extreme is bad in any case and for any situation.
