I'm a Cancer(sun) and my rising sign is Sagittarius(I have alot of Sagittarius in my birth chart, I have it in my saturn, uranus, in my ascendant, & my juno) ..
And get this I don't get on to well with male Sags, I tend to find(the ones I know who are Sags) them to b.s alot and well just very irritating. I won't judge all the male Sags though just stating that the ones I know tend to be real A-Holes.

Your rising sign or ascendant has more to do with the bearing on your sun sign than anything else. it doesn't mean you will get along well with Sag. especially if there are afflictions in your chart. It just means that you have a special empathy for Sag. and your sun carries the Sag. influence. Cancer would not naturally get along well with Sag because of your basic elements. Yours being water and Sag is fire. Fire and water do not mix well as you can imagine. Water puts out fire.
Sag. in your chart makes you a Cancer with more of an fun adventurous personality than most Cancers.
Many of our rising signs are connected with our mothers.
Is your mother by chance a Sag or a fire sign?

well actually i have a Cancer Sun, Sagittarius Rising aswell as my saturn and uranus in Sag.
