I swear the old house that I used to live in was haunted. I'm a skeptic when it comes to ghosts, but this house always seemed to creep me out. There weren't any cold spots or moans and groans but there was something in my room that used to lift the hairs on the back of my neck and my bedroom door used to pound when it was closed, like someone was desperate to get out, but when I yelled at Sarah (my younger sister) Mum would call from the lounge room that Sarah was at Laura's.
Sometimes I'd lie in my bed and a huge amount of pressure would push on my chest suddenly forcing me into the mattress, but when I tried to scream it would vanish as suddenly as it came. When I screamed for mum it was blamed on "asthma". Years after moving away I told Sarah in passing that I hated that house, and she replied that she used to hear a child screaming like he was being burned. I was shocked at that. She'd never mentioned it before, and I didn't even bring up any of my memories.
It was a very old house in Moonta that the Cornish people had migrated to for mining copper, we we're told that a family had burnt to death in a house fire not long after they moved to Australia, but I don't think mum would have bought a house that people had died in.

I've been to hundreds of supposedly haunted places and never seen, heard or felt a thing that could be called even remotely mysterious or spooky.
I love ("real") ghost stories and, as I travel around the country, I like to visit the sites of these hauntings. I'd love to see a ghost, but no luck so far.
I regret that I have come to the conclusion that the majority, if not all, are merely urban legends.

yes, I live there. After I have family over for holidays, I find little odd things happen in the house. Once a picture was hanging on the wall upside down. Another time a picture disappeared out of it's frame. Today was Easter but have found nothing so far. We have heard hammering on the front porch in the early morning with no one there. The same sound under the house once. Rhythmic hammering, a pause, then hammering again as if it were a carpenter. Lots of things.

I used to live in a city that was haunted. Seriously. People would ask what the ghosts were like before they would buy or rent. I only had one creepy experience and I don't talk about that. I don't believe in ghosts and I can't see being scared of someone who couldn't hurt anyone even when they were alive.

I can't say for sure if the place was haunted but I have been in those places where weird things happen and there isn't an explanation and I have seen things in the corner of my eye that apparently isn't there. My house has a ghost kitty that scratches in the middle of the night too (we don't have a cat).

My drummer's house.....standing there talking to him and a dinner plate flew through the air and almost hit my head. Creepy. Then I told the "ghost" that it didn't have the balls to do it again, and nothing else happened. Who is scared now?
