BCCI should select a group of around 30 talented youngsters from all over the country without any partisan approach to regionalism. Once this is done, they should make 2 or 3 teams of such talented players and make them play couple of matches against present Indian Team. After these matches player's capability and talent should be assessed and they should be inducted in the National Team in phased manner by replacing the players from the current squad who has failed consistently to perform. By this process, India can build a strong team by the time next world cup is due.

As you written above about Sachin's 18 yrs consistentcy. Ya that makes lots of difference in a team. See how.....
Indian selection board needs talented players for Indian cricket team. for that they need to few mandatory rules for players.
1.Age restriction: A suitable age for team selection not be above 18/20. Let players start at the age of 10/11 to play cricket. Those are capable and devoted to the game definately they will come out and will be part of the team.
2.Zone wise selection:let al 4 zones select their own team of 15 players ( age between 18-20). 15 players from each zone means BCCI will get atleast 60 players for selection. Out of these can not bcci make a good team.
3.All the zone wise selected players must be enrolled on bcci pay roll. Bcci is a rich organisation, they can afford and pay better for future prospectives.
4. Apart from one captain all players must be treated as in one level. Every player should be given suffcient time to settle, prove and perform in the team.
5. Selection must be on players capability not on money power.
6. many more.........

I think selecting a 3 rd spinner P.Chawla is a mistake. Most often 3 pace bowlers and one spinner (Harbhajan)are selected in the X!,as we already have few part time spinners like Y.Pathan,Raina,Tendulker,Yuvaraj who can complete the 10 over quote of 5th bowler. Then selecting a 2nd spinner(Aswin) in to the playing 11 may be probable on a turning wicket at the cost of a batsman .But when will the 3rd spinner(P.Chawla) get a chance to play?Instead of P.Chawla another batsman like R.Sharma or another pace bowler like Srishanth,in case a pace bowler gets injured or lastly a 2nd WK Parthiv Patel to cover up for Dhoni, would have been a better choice.

They need to copy the Aussie system.
Chuck the BCCI and its chamar Pawar. Make it a corp. With 5-6 zones. Only players that play for their zone every year should be eligible for selection.

The complete BCCI should all resign, and a new BCCI should be formed that gives India good results, and they should be removed as punishment if the performance of team India is poor.
