S.M. VENKATARAGAVAN was a Ranji Trophy and Test Player later became Umpire. He had unpired test matches also. -

The first Ex-Ranji Trophy player to umpire in a test watch was Srinivasaraghavan Venkataraghavan of Tamil Nadu.
His Test debut as an Umpire was in the match between India and England at Eaden Gardens, Kolkata from January 29 to February 2, 1993. His ODI debut as an Umpire was in the match between India and England at Jaipur from January 18, 1993 at Jaipur.
He has umpired in 73 test matches and 52 One Day Internationals.
The first Indian Umpire to umpire in a test match was V.K.Ramaswamy who umpired in a Test Match in 1984-85 and ODI in 1983-84. However, he has not played in Ranji Trophy matches.
