Why would someone try to make someone else believe they were crazy?

It's to cover up a lie. Read the book "Never Be Lied To Again" by David Lieberman. It's a quick & easy read, and after reading it, you'll be able to easily pick out a lie -- even in a conversation somebody is having across a noisy room.
