I agree with the first poster

You might also check the classified ads, there are times homes to be moved are listed.

One other place you might check is the Dept. of Transportation.
Find out if they are planning on widening streets or highways, building new roads or highways etc

Many times when they do, they will hold an auction for the homes that are in the way of their improvements or new construction.

Ask them if they are planning any of those auctions and how to get in on bidding. If they are planning one in the near future, they will probably send you the information on the homes, when the auction is, what you need to do to bid, etc.

You will probably have to have your own money that would be necessary for the home and the transportation of the home. Most banks will not finance the home until it has been placed on your lot.
Moving a home can be risky - to risky for a bank to loan on before the move.

Also, you will have to have the permits, a foundation placed, plumbing, electrical, etc.

Purchasing the house itself is only a portion of the amount you would have to spend - though many times it can be cheaper by going that route than it is to purchase a regular home fixed to a lot. You would have to do your homework on all aspects to keep your costs down.

<>Are you talking about mobile homes or stick-built homes? Moving permanent homes is a costly and tricky affair. If you are looking for inexpensive housing, try your local sheriff or tax office and ask about properties up for tax auction. You can bid on these and often obtain a house for the price of back taxes.
