The USA will need the support of Syria and Iran to get out of Iraq

She wore the head scarf because it was the right thing to do in that situation. Most Muslim men will not even look at a woman if she isn't wearing one.

I don't know what was discussed exactly, but I'm sure it was representative of the American people.

Yes, she has the power and authority to make a treaty, even though no treaty was made in this trip. I know, I know. You are thinking of Separation of Powers which gives the President the authority over foreign affairs. But, you are forgetting about Checks and Balances. The three branches of government were set up with overlapping powers. The President's main duty is foreign affairs, but Congress has the power and the duty to provide oversight of foreign affairs.

I cannot defend what Nacy Pelosi did. She may even be in violation of the Logan Act. Just to clarify, though, a burka is a head-to-toe garment worn by women in countries like Afghanistan. It only has mesh for the face. She wore a headscarf which is known as hijab.

Ms. Pelosi in her current capacity as speaker of the house of representatives has no authority to make a treaty. She may have ambitions beyond the house of representatives, though.

Perhaps Ms. Pelosi just does not have a good understanding of the Muslim world and the quest for power and world domination. I am especially convinced of that because she favors establishment of the "nuclear fuel bank" although a country like Iran has the capability of further enriching "nuclear fuel" to be pure enough (U235) to provide fissile material for a nuclear bomb.

On April 10, 2997, an article written by Carla Mariunucci appeared in the San Francisco Chronicle, indicating that Ms. Pelosi and Rep. Lantos are interested in making a "diplomatic trip" to Iran.
http://sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/c/a/2007/04/10/BAGV9P6C0S6.DTL
Pelosi, Lantos may be interested in diplomatic trip to Iran
Furthermore, the article quoted Rep Lantos as saying that he co-sponsored legislation with Ms. Pelosi which could pass as early as May that calls for making available to all countries --including Iran -- nuclear fuel for peaceful purposes under international oversight by establishing a "nuclear fuel bank".

I believe that the legislation is:
HR 6 Clean Energy Act of 2007
http://frwebgate.access.gpo.gov/cgi-bin/getdoc.cgi?dbname=110_cong_bills&docid=f:h6ih.txt.pdf

Those who advocate the "nuclear fuel bank" consider that clean nuclear technology would be available to all countries. However, those who argue against the "nuclear fuel bank" point out that the uranium enrichment process (using centrifuges to separate isotopes as in the FEP at Natanz, Iran) can also be used to produce a more pure grade of uranium 235 which may be used in a nuclear bomb.

http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/09/28/opinion/edbuffett.php
http://www.goodharborreport.com/node/295

The head of the Iranian Nuclear Energy Organization, Gholam-Reza Aghazadeh, explains it thus:
The simple way is to inject 0.7% (uranium) and obtain 3.5%, right? Now, if you take this 3.5% and inject it again into the chain (of centrifuges), the result will be 20%. If you inject the 20% back into the chain, the result will be 60%. If you inject this 60%, the result will be 90%.

http://www.memritv.org/Search.asp?ACT=S6&P1=2,148&P3=4

Since Iran has uranium enrichment capabilities at its FEP (fuel enrichment plant) at Natanz, giving Iran nuclear "fuel" enriched to 3.5% might not be a good idea if Iran does have the agenda to develop a nuclear bomb.

The BBC article (listed below) describes the nuclear fuel process.

If you go to Damascus you should visit the Ummayad Mosque, it is the centre of the historic area of the city, and contains the tomb of John the Baptist. Also, according to Syrian tradition, Jesus will appear at the top of the North East minaret to do battle with the Antichrist at the end of the world! It is an active place of worship, so putting a scarf on when you go rubbernecking around is good manners. Also leave your shoes with the old guy at the entrance kiosk. If you are feeling generous you should tip him afterwards too. His job is to check no-one runs off with your shoes. (by mistake?)

Can you imagine that, her wearing a burka? She was supposed
to be a leader in the woman's rights movement, that showed her true colors. She did not go there representing our government, in any way. She did not have any authority to make a treaty, not even discuss a treaty. She just made a complete fool of herself. Can you imagine a republican doing such a thing? The main stream media would have been all over her, if she were a republican..It just goes to show you, that the libs can do anything they please. If she was taken hostage, what the hell do you think would happen then? They can keep her, she is not much help to the US..
Edit: Wow, I guess you can tell a lib a mile away, calling people names, is about all they can do..Great Answer, Ruth, and I love your hair!!

First, that's not a burka, it's called a scarf. Burka is much different.

Who knows what was discussed, it was private.

She didn't make a treaty or negotiate. She made inquires with the government and asked them to stop the terrorist bringing arms across the border to Iraq. They same thing our government has asked.

There was no official treaty or agreement signed by either side. Nothing was signed or agreed upon. It was just a way to open up some communication line between US and Syria. She just wanted to tell the Syria that we know people are crossing Iraq Syria border to attack US soldiers.

Tell me why it's not okay to wear a burka?
"When in Rome, do what the Romans do."

You are supposed to respect their culture.

What was discussed is probably all spilt by Chaney.
Ask Chaney.
He seems pretty pissed, which sure is a good thing.

She has power as the Speaker of the House.
She's the 3rd in line as the Commander-in-Chief.
Hell, she has the power!
Sheesh.

Just concentrate on getting Gonzales to tender his resignation letter.
Anything else is just smoke screen from you Republicans.

Pelosi does not have the power or authority to make a treaty or to make any foreign policy decision. She has embarrassed our country and at the same time pissed Israel off, who by the way quickly put her in her place with the greatest of ease. hopefully she has learned her lesson and will apply her knowledge of governing were it will do the most good......San Fransisco

NOT sure what was discussed, nor do I care what she was wearing. She had as much right to be there as the other three republicans who were there!!!
Guess it's the same all stuff only okay if a republican does it!

Well, contrary to the beliefs of the current President, diplomacy is still the most inexpensive, non-violent, effective way of dealing with other countries. Good thing we have someone as high-ranking as Pelosi to recognize that we can't just throw bombs around instead of reaching out to other nations in peace.

p.s. screw ruth. is anyone else just plain tired of seeing her nasty platinum hair and wrinkly jugs on every page, reading her constant spew of conservative crap? screw her.
