Have I been rude to you? When?
Do you think it's ladylike of you to insult my mother, who died in 2003 in a hospice, starving to death over a 2-week period because she refused tube feeding, while I was crushed inside? Of course she didn't teach me to be a gentleman. Of course she did nothing honorable.
Why wouldn't your family disrespect me, after what you just said? Why wouldn't they follow your lead?
Trying to equate manners with party lines is ridiculous.
EDIT: All I wanted or hoped for was your qualifier, and you gave that. I thank you for it sincerely, wherever I fit in these lists, good or bad.

I guess that technically I'm a liberal politically so I can answer that. I am in person a gentleman, I get hot headed at times over the Internet, but I try to maintain my own concept that petty name calling solves nothing. I will not usually hesitate to insult idiotic concepts and unfortunately, many people are so used to rudeness and meaningless mud-slinging that they look at something that is objectionable and assume I am insulting a personality, as opposed to a concept promoted or suggested by that person. I personally don't agree with everything you say, but beyond that I have no beef with you. In fact it actually seems like you're a nice enough person, of course I don't know you, so I don't know for sure, but I have seen nothing to suggest otherwise. My mother dealt with a lot of personal issues, so she taught me the bare minimum for survival and a few extras which generally didn't include a lot about being a gentleman, I taught that to myself. But I am still at times guilty of jumping the gun and getting a little hot-headed I'm sure that happens with everyone not just liberal.

So it's liberals YOU focus on vs. your sons? Because the republicans I know, emphatically including Dumbya, are the rudest, most hateful uncivilized creatures I can think of. Besides, being an insensitive, narrow-minded, insulting, hateful and genocidal person does not have to include vilgar terms. In fact, most Nazi generals were highly educated, refined and elloquent people, which still does not justify their actions. Is that your ambition? Because your questions - also very insulting, hateful and stupid - indicate that Nazi approach. Go eat ten more burgers, you obese female bovine - is that non-vulgar enough?

Well, yes, but when you act like a troll online, you have to expect that people will call you a troll.
You put baiting questions out there and troll along hoping for a bite.
I am sure you are a really lovely person, but the fact is, you are a troll.
Do you want people to lie or tell you the truth?

Your question drew exactly the response you described from the very worst of them. People lke Argle can't see betond their own blind hatred for anyone who doesn't completely agree with him. I keep writing that liberals are the most bigoted and biased people in the country and nitwits like him continue to prove it. They are as disengenuous as it can get. keep up the good work.

First off, why is this question directed at liberal men? The erosion of civility is not a liberal/conservative issue. There are people on both sides who do nothing but call others names. I blame it on 2 things - the lack of adequate parenting and the increasing social isolation that has pervaded our culture.
Forty years ago, we didn't have computers, we didn't have cell phones or IPods, and we didn't have 300 channels on TV. We got our entertainment and social interation from actually going out in public and BEING WITH PEOPLE. When we were in public, we didn't have electronics to keep up busy, we had people to talk to. You knew your neighbors. You knew your grocers name. Everyone knew your mother and you showed respect to people partly out of a sense of moraly decency, partly because if you didn't, you knew your mother would find out.
The other big issue is not poor parenting, but the lack of time for what would be considered even adequate parenting. In most two parent families, both of the parents work, leaving the "child-rearing" to a third party. This third party seldom instills a sense of morality - they are only there to teach. Morality should be instilled at home - by parents - and few have the time after working all day, shuttling to soccer practice, shopping, paying the bills, etc. Parents come home from work, throw dinner in the microwave (if they even have time to attempt to eat together), and turn on the tube. The TV stays on through dinner, destroying any chance for a meaningful family conversation.
Instead of throwing accusations at one side, maybe we need to start working on our OWN civility. "Or how wilt thou say to thy brother, Let me pull out the mote out of thine eye; and, behold, a beam is in thine own eye?" (Matthew 7:4). You gain respect by showing respect, not by being disrespectful. We reap what we sow. Sowing discourse and animosity will lead to more of the same. Treating people, regardless of political philosophy, with respect will gain you respect. There will alway be people with nothing better to do than insult and degrade, but they seldom have anything worthwhile to say so it is best to simply ignore them.
I like to think that everyone will be respectful as long as they are shown respect. But, if you constantly assault them with disrepect, most will strike back.
“It would be ugly to watch people poking sticks at a caged rat. It is uglier still to watch rats poking sticks at a caged person.” - Jean Harris

If you insist upon post inflammatory "questions" and slurs, knowing what kind of people hang out in this saloon, WHAT in the world do you expect to get in return? Cards and flowers?
I agree, name calling is adolescent, but shall we take a look at some samples of your work?
- "Do the crazy antiwar protesters realize that they are FREE to be idiots"
- "If the pro terrorist liberals go into rehab..."
- "Because they are self-centered and hedonistic."
- (refering to me) "it's only his dementia kicking in at this time of night because he is much older than us"
- "I saw some male liberals...wearing women's clothes."
- "They get more insulting as they drink and take their drugs too."
RLP - you are such a flaming hypocrite.
(and then there was your appeal to one of your gang members to "slap me around" a little bit.)
Oh ya, you're loveable, all right.
"Oh, oh, it's not nice to call people names! That's mean!"
It's adolescent, but you bring it on yourself.
Points to Stolworthy for a kinder but equally accurate response.

willow gave an instance of your name calling. Argle pointed out exactly how you would be hypocritical even if you hadn't said the things willow had in her answer.
YOUR ATTITUDE IS VULGAR !! Don't kid yourself that your any better than me because you don't use particular words. Words are used to convey ideas. Whether you use one vulgar word or thirty words to get across the idea it's the same. Anybody that reads your questions and answers, knows exactly what I'm talking about.
I believe that you should be allowed to say the things you do even though I don't like it. I use insults and obscenities myself. The difference is that I'm not hypocritical about it. I don't try to pretend that there is a difference between using obscene words, and conveying obscene ideas with each individual word being innocuous by itself.
