I think the problem is I have a very small vocabulary and don't know enough words to put what I see, or what I feel into words. How can I expand my vocabulary so I can do this, I feel like I'm opperating at a vocabulary level less than the average adult is.

Study the dictionary, watch more educational programs and develop your interest in learning things. Don't walk away from things you don't understand, ask questions until you do understand. You don't have to have a bunch of 5 dollar words to make yourself understood, just some that are more defined in what you are trying to express.

It is hard to build a verbal vocabulary when most of the people you may hang out with do not use full sentences or engage in meaningful conversations. You seem to at least want to try to build your vocabulary and that is a start. Every night try reading aloud to yourself. It can be anything. Get a good dictionary and when you come to a word you do not understand look it up. Write the word down so you can remember and say it out loud using the phonetic key in the front of the dictionary. Good verbalization is a very important tool in life. I took theater classes to try to help me interact with others better. It helped to until I developed stage fright and did not want to talk to anyone anymore. I figure if I can put it on a page I won't have to deal with anyone. Conversation is an art and there are very few people that master it in there lifetime. I wish you luck in the pursuit of your verbal eloquence.

You sound just fine to me. I had no trouble reading and understanding your words.

But, there are books and audio tapes out there to help you build your vocabulary. Some are dedicated to specific fields (such as medical terminolgy, etc) .

One is just as good as the next. So, don't waste your money on expensive "courses" like those advertised on radio. A five dollar book or dictionary works just as well.

Personally, I find this forum to be the best way to improve my ability to express myself.

Nothing helps you solidify your point of view like writing out your thoughts. It is powerful.

Continue to ask questions. But more importantly, ANSWER lots of questions with open-mindedness and honesty.

Best wishes!
