An extremely pure water is a good insulator and it is very difficult keeping water extremely pure. If you add a few grains of ordinary table salt to a gallon of 18 meg, water would be dangerously conductive.all d same an extremely pure water is a good insulator for electrical systems.

No. While pure water is a good electrical insulator, water has the reputation of being the universal solvent. Dissolve a small amount of an ionic compound in it and it goes from good insulator to good conductor.
