Stress is the second most common cause of late or missed periods in teens. It may be emotional stress (for example, breakup with a boyfriend or final exams) or depression. Or it may be physical stress to the body, such as a severe illness, a sexually transmitted infection, rapid weight loss or gain, or strenuous exercise. Dieting or binging and purging may interrupt menstrual cycles. Changes in your usual routine (for example, going on vacation) may also cause your period to be late or missed. Your periods should return when the activities or situations that are stressing you are eliminated or changed.

If you miss 3 or more menstrual cycles you should see you gyno.

Benig underweight is one of the commonly known ones, as well as being sick for an extended time (I remember skipping a period during a particular summer that I was sick for nearly a month). But it can also happen to women as they age. Physiology changes. One that may not be known is that as a young woman in her 20s will go through it in her mid-to-late 20s. It hit me severely, when I was 27. Perhaps it happens moreso to those who have not had babies. But my body had changed. My period was irregular for over a year, and finally it established regularity. I heard that this was actually COMMON. But not so common among mothers. Despite this, a woman's menstrual cycle will change as she ages. That's fairly obvious, but not obvious enough.

Yes, it can. Drugs and lack of sleep can do it, too. So can not eating enough. You might want to take a pregnancy test just to be absolutely sure, though.

Yes, stress can cause you to miss your periods. If you are sexually active you should also take a preg. test to make sure that you are not preggers.
