Well there are lots of nice places around Fenway. It's a young area because it's right where the college campuses of Boston University, Simmons College, Wentworth, and all the colleges of the Fenway all come together. It's easy for public transit access, there are lots of good places to rent apartments (some rather pricey!), tons of bars/places to eat, and there are a few supermarkets within walking distance. The food at Game On at Fenway Park is amazing! Also, because of the size of the city, you are always very close to popular areas such as Boylston Street/Copley, etc.

It's easy, it's the Red Sox. They're perhaps the only sports team that I can safely say if the Bostonians had an opportunity to build a church, based on the games of the Sox, they would in a heartbeat.
But there is no singular main attraction to the Fenway. But Fenway is in the heart of the city, and because of that, it's adjacent to a couple really nice sports bars like Jillian's, which offers billiards and bowling among a couple other activities. Fenway is right off the train that will get you anywhere. It's close to a huge movie theater, itself part of a strip mall that houses a few chain stores. But Fenway is a hot spot because it's near Commonwealth Ave., one of the popular areas of the city that has many bars and restaurants for anyone getting something out of the nightlife.

I liked living there because everything I ever needed/wanted was so close. Restaurants, stores, coffee shops, D'Angelos!!!, Star Market (groceries), etc.
Plus, you have a very youthful spirited area where there's good energy. What more could you ask for!
Fenway, Kenmore Sq, great areas! Oh, and the Boston Marathon goes rigth through Kenmore square, less than a mile from the finish. It is amazing!!!

Boston Beer Works, across the street from Fenway, is an awesome place. Great beer and fried pickles!
