I recently traveled I-70 across PA, OH, WV; & the state's have inserted friggin' Starbucks in the rest stops. Is there that many travelers that can afford a $3 cup of coffee?! I see it as a thumbing of the nose towards the middle class.

It's called corporate greed. A "Mom & Pop" coffee shop can't get $3 for a cup of coffee but, big business knows how they can. The middle class always gets it on the nose.

Well guess this middle class person is relieved to see a Starbucks in a rest stop. Personally I would rather pay the extra money and get a good cup of coffee, one that really tastes like coffee instead of soapy water and pay for it. I like to get something for my money and am willing to pay for it. Give me Starbucks any day. I go out of my way in NY to go to a Starbucks, but then that's not very hard as there's one on almost every corner around here. Some of us like good coffee instead of rotten hamburgers on a long trip. Sorry, don't want to offend you.

I renamed Starbucks to Bigbucks years ago. They sell mediocre, extremely overpriced coffee. They're basically the McDonald's of coffee shops-they don't even use real espresso machines. I can't understand why it's so popular (and I live near Seattle!), except maybe that it's trendy to go there and hang out.

Starbucks is overpriced and overhyped. There are plenty of places where you can get a really good cup of coffee for half the price.

I live in a livley city area resembling midtown manhattan and all there is is starbucks.Literally because the other coffee shops closed because of low buissness and in the city there are lots of jews. And i am a bagel-loving jew.And one of the bagels shops even closed because they had low buissness(not because of passover) but because the starbucks just started selling great bagels.Usually at starbucks i spend $49.00 a week($196.00 per month).I wish our prices are $3.00.You are accually lucky.

No Starbucks is a franchise like McD's and BK, and I don't see it that way and I looooove their Vanilla Bean Frappachinos and I always order my Venti size cuz it's off the chain.

well its too bad they didn't accept food stamps so you could have bought a cup of their java. if you traveled that far how did you come up with the gas money? and what would 3 bucks have been to a big spender like you?

I LOVE Starbucks! I pay the "big bucks" no matter what.

I agree with you. But in this world of free trade, if you pay it, they will take.
