Good question. I am alternately fascinated and frightened by the thought of nothingness. Imagine there is nothing...can't do it... because even the nothingness is something. And here's the scary part....there can never be an end to the universe and even if there were, it would be part of something else, which is then part of something else, etc. ,etc., etc.

Honestly, this troubles me greatly.

You are tapping into existentialistic thought.

If you "think" about it, you have falsified your premise.

You cannot think what would happen because, in essence, it would be impossible to do so. In nothingness, nothing exists, therefore to consider putting any effective thought to what would happen is useless.

It would be all void. But then we are defining something that is indefinable even though we have thought of a way to define it in a world that exists, but truly we can't because it can't be defined by anything because it is nothing.

It is a difficult concept, I know, but I used to be a philosophy major in college. I USED to be. I gave it up.

I too have thought about this, it seems simple to think of empty space, but if nothing existed their would not be space either. Try imagining absolute nothing, it is impossible. You can imagine the darkest black of empty space but you cannot imagine nothing. As you try to imagine this you are still aware. Even try imagining that your own consciousness never existed, it seems evident(or at least gives the illusion) that all this had to be, it is nature, just as water flows downhill there had to be something, some truth, some form of awareness.

Cold, dark, empty, sterile, vacuum space. The primer of creation itself.
Nothingness. I dont think just any human can imagine such condition but with years of practice of meditation, then could someone realice what nothiness actually means and maybe not petryfing infront of it. The rest of us with so much "noice" in our minds would maybe undestand the concept but not comprehend the feeling of actual nothingness or vaccum space, if there's any.
I think we feel the efects of the nothing as far as it gets filled with something meanwhile it's atually unconceivable.

Very quiet.

No. Cause not even quiet would exist.

Very empty.

No. Cause not even empty would exist.

I think it wouldn't be like anything.

And that is the only thing that I can not imagine.

Therefore, I and the universe around me exists and will continue to do so forever.

Just sit a moment and imagine yourself standing beneath a spotlight and everything else is completely dark, quiet, and the air still...like that I suppose. It would drive anyone insane.

Best of luck.

"Nothing" cannot exist. It is beyond our capacity to comprehend such a situation, according to our (Hindu) belief. It is like keeping two mirrors facing each other to see the end of an image.
