This is nonsense spread by John Coleman, TV weatherman (not a scientist). He's been yakking about doing this for years but of course nothing ever comes of it. The case would get tossed immediately as being without basis. The number 30,000 comes from the people, dogs, cats, etc. that have signed the Oregon Petition. By and large they are not scientists at all. The most famous signers that are (were) real scientists are both dead, Edward Teller and Frederick Seitz. Teller died so long ago that the most recent IPCC report had not even been released, so he's hardly up on the recent science. EDIT for Silver Bear: Of course Al Gore is not a scientist and he is also not my hero. Where did you get this nonsense? I said nothing about Al Gore, although I'm pretty sure I've said in other answers that he is a politician, not a scientist, and that I did not think his movie was effective propaganda/rhetoric. My heroes are/were real scientists, like John Wheeler, Paul Dirac, Isaac Newton, etc. Don't project your own garbage onto me. Another EDIT for Silver Bear's nonsense: You have a lot of nerve to say "you would have done some real research and learned by now that the THEORY of man-induced global warming is - at best - a fraud. " In fact I have a Master's degree in Physics, have the equivalent of a Master's in Atmospheric Science, and will be getting a Ph.D. in Climate Science this year, so I would say that I have done some real research, some of which I presented at the American Geophysical Union last month and some more of which I'll present at the American Meteorological Society meeting this month. And just what research have you done that proves it's a fraud? Read a few blogs? But back to the original point, John Coleman is full of hot air and is not suing anybody, because he has no case. He's not a meteorologist, he's an entertainer; Gore is a not a climate scientist, he's a politician.

Well, even if they did kill some tress, Gore can just buy some carbon offsets from his own company.
It was freezing here in Austin, TX yesterday (For those liberals reading this it is April, not December as I write this) and the only thing full of hot air on this planet is Al Gore. Last week fire hydrants were frozen in Alaska.
Since Al believes that CO2 is killing the environment then let him be the first to hold his breath and help save the planet.
Al may use recycled paper, but what of the tones of CO2 his private jet dumps into the upper atmosphere?
George Orwell's Animal Farm taught me something about Liberals, just like the pigs in the book, they preach that all people are equal, but they really believe that some are MORE equal than others. That is why you will see Al Gore supports make excuses for all the Carbon the leader is using to kill the planet.
I bet Dem's had a good easter yesterday, I bet they ate well too, because you know when Dems come to a table they can load it up with pork faster than you can blink.

Save all those books. We can make dikes and levees out of them when the water levels rise 8" - 16" inches 150 years from now and threatens to wash New York City out to sea.
I wonder how it is that our coastal communities have survived 20 foot plus storm surges over the eons but will be "devastated" by 8" - 16" increase in sea levels when we only have 150 years to prepare for it.
I'm keeping an inflatable raft in the back yard, just in case it happens a little quicker.

Once again, we see that all liberal thoughts and ideas are rooted in a lie
You have just re-told a nice big lie that the dems use constantly. Most paper comes from parts of the tree that were not used for lumber. Al Gore's book is just a collection of lies and half truths that some people chose to believe. The real tragedy is that this boob came so close to the presidency.

How many trees die for goddamn Bibles? Worthless crap, too, would have been better off as toilet paper.Monkey Bush would publish books, too, if only they knew a language - any one would be fine. Go put on some more blonde dye on that empty head & eat a few more burgers, you're still not fat enough.

How about books written by Rush Limbaugh, Bill O'Reilly they were written on paper too weren't they? The public still likes books to come in print, hate the public then; see how far that gets you.

The book was written on recycled paper. Recycled... you know, like your one-sided and slanted posts you regurgitate after listening to Rush Limbaugh and pretending like you are capable of original thought.

Nah... -It's always about People, nowadays. How many PEOPLE will have to die before the Conservatives believe in Global Warming? I'm all FOR trees, too. Let the Conservatives keep their heads in the sand, & in their coming destruction- millions of trees shall be saved. :)

Now remember, Al Gore invests in Carbon offsets, so its ok for him to waste paper and fly in his jet and heat his home(s).
Maybe while we are at it, we can start a movement to stop Continental Drift!!!!! Californians ought to be worrying about that a little more, don;t you think?
