I have a Lexmark x75 all-in-one printer that I haven't used in a while, and I need to know how to check (if there is a way to) if it is the ink cartridges that have been unsed and sitting in the printer the problem (as in I just need new ones), or is there a way to check if the printer/scanner/copier itself is not working. Also, after downloading a driver from Lexmark support, I am unable to print regular text from WordPad- why is that? A prompt tells me that the x75 is not communicating with my computer. I would appreciate any advice from knowledgeable people. I plan on contacting Lexmark support, but I'm sure they will not be overly concerned (sarcasm) since the printer is a few years old, and while they might help, I would still appreciate your support. Thanks.

About the "cant communicate" isue... uninstall and reinstall the drivers... Connect the printe prior to installing them.

About the printheads... If it has not been used in a while you'll probably need new ones since they dry with time... If they give you problems try with a damp swab or placeing the print head on top of a damp paper towel so the ink flow... This will clean any clog on them...

you in simple terms choose the driving force? First, on the Lexmark website, make valuable your grabing the living house windows XP driver and not the Vista one or a previouse version of living house windows one. If that still doesnt artwork, do a google seek for it. there are various websites available that provide driver downloads.

Other issues could be a bad cable (USB, etc.) or a problem with the driver installation for the USB hub/port or the parallel (or serial) port.

If you're not sure the computer has the original software that came with it, consider visiting the manufacturer's website (dell.com, hp.com, etc.) to download the original drivers.
