m = -8
y = -8x + c

at point (0,-1/2)
-1/2 = -8(0) + c
c = -1/2

equation of line
y = -8x -1/2

y = mx + b; this is the standard equation for a line, where m is the slope, and b is the y intercept.

So, plug in the numbers:

y= -8x + (-1/2)

There's 2 nice line equations:
this

y-y1 = m(x-x1)
(use this where you have a point and a slope)
and another
y = mx+b
(when you have the y intercept and slope)
The last one you need for the problem. Just plug in your m and b.
