The "when" you go is the most important factor in cost. Avoiding special events, large conventions and weekends will save you a fortune.

The best sites I have found to check LV room rates. >In order
http://www.travelworm.com
http://www.i4vegas.com
http://www.tripres.com
http://www.vegas.com

From this site you can access every hotel/casino site
http://www.lasvegasadvisor.com "VEGAS INFO" >Hotels & Casinos

If you can be flexible with your vacation these are some dates with "generally" better rates. May 28th until June 22nd, then again from July 15th to the 27th. For the best rates of the entire year December 9th to the 28th.

I second the person above that suggested the Stratosphere & Gold Coast. Both are nice properties and a good value. Bill's, Orleans & Vegas Club are a few more along the same lines.

Depends on where you're flying from. Best airline I've seen to Vegas is http://www.spiritair.com
If you're looking for a nice but cheap hotel I'd stay at http://www.stratospherehotel.com or http://www.goldcoastcasino.com
