Does anyone know about brake jobs for a mazda 626. Trying to get a brake job on the above mentioned car. Trying to figure out what parts to buy because i know a guy who will replace all the parts for me at a very good price. I have drums in the front and discs in the rear. Does anyone know what parts i need.

Other way around, you have discs in the front and drums in the rear, there hasn't been a drum brake on the front of a car since the 1970s probably. You'll need new front pads and rotors and new rear shoes and drums. You may also want to ask your friend to check out and clean up or replace if necessary the "slides" that allow the front calipers to slide back and forth to engage the outer pad. The bolts that hold the caliper on to the hub go through these slides. The design was pretty bad all and all and as a rule I typically buy all new slides and dust boots every 3-4 years for my Mazdas. They're probably 20 bucks a set or so, just ask for a brake caliper slide kit for the front while your at the parts store if you want to do those too. Your friend will need to probably pound the old ones out and clean out the bores before putting the new ones on. Though if you live in a REALLY mild climate they may not be all nasty, here in the rust belt they tend to freeze up after a few years and it causes only the inner pad to engage the rotor wearing out that one pad very quickly and killing your braking power.

You have disc brakes in the front. Until they have been inspected you won't know what you need. Advance auto or Auto Zone has all the parts.
You will need at least front disc brake pads, Maybe rotors for the front. Rear brake shoes, maybe a hardware kit for the rear. You may need the drums resurfaced.
Some 626's may have rear disc brakes. If so you you will need rear disc brake pads and maybe rotors.

Sorry but you have disc in the front & drums in the rear. If there are no deep grooves in the rotors (front) then you will just need front brake pads - don't buy cheap or they will squeak. As far as the rear - you will need brake shoes & I would purchase wheel cylinders - 9 times out of 10 they will be leaking & buy brake cleaner to clean the drums.

I thik you mean drums in back disc in front. Brake jobs are pretty much all the same. You really dont know how deep you need to go until everythin g is apart. The fronts need pads and having the rotors turned. They may or may not have to be replaced depending on how much is left to turn down. The calipers may or may not have to be replaced depending on the condition and wther they bind or not. The rear needs new shoes, new brake cylinders (I always replace cylinders on drum brakes, saves aggrivation down the road, new spring kit, and drum turning. Again the drums may or may not need replacing.

You mean discs on f and drums on r.You will need to examine the braking system to determine exactly what parts need to be replaced.
