It was not only Dravid and Sachin responsible for the debacle in the world cup as it was due to collective failure. You cannot change a complete team overnight and it can be done gradually in phased manner. The present idea of BCCI is to send a completelyy youth team to Bangladesh under an experienced captain. That was the reason why Dravid has been appointed as Captain. As far as Sachin is concerned, his place in the team can no more be taken for granted and if he fails to perform, he will be out from the team in course of time.

They are there because Sharad Power does not want change. Too many talented from outside Maharstra and Andhra Pradesh are more competent than these two. But BCCI has been for long been in the clutches of Bombay and Hyderabad. It is hard to believe that in a 100 crore+ population, we have only one each of the caliber Rahul and Sachin.

Rahul is a selfless captain.Think of his decision to declare against Pakistan with Sachin on 194,but only after giving him reasonable time. The exit from WC must make him more tough which will be a good sign. His rotation of bowlers and field placing must improve.
Sachin either lacks fitness or confidence. He must come in only after regaining his form.

Sometimes, we, the supporters of our good players feel like killing them for not putting a good performance in the game. It is their performance not in a particular match but their overall performance that counts. With regards to their overall performance, they are both worthy to be in the team, in their respective places. They have earned the spot on that basis but could not find themselves properly during the World Cup.
