I had sex once since my last period which was about a month ago. I was thinking I might be pregnant because my period is always every 21 days like clockwork. I should be on my period right now, just about to be done I am a week late. I took a pregnancy test today and it came up "Not Pregnant". I don't have any pregnancy symptoms and I am relieved I'm not pregnant I am not in the right time of my life to have a baby and the person I slept with is not in my life.

I feel like I am getting a flu like I am sick I don't know if this has to do with missing my period? itchy watery eyes, sneezing, snuffy nose (I took some benadryl and drank an airborne) I know when your anorexic your period can be late or missed, I've been suffering from anorexia for 3 years and have never missed a period maybe a few days late but never missed a cycle, plus I have gained 30 pounds but I am mentioning it because I want to try and rule out all possibilies (I am 5 foot 8 and weigh 110 lbs)

What can cause your period to be late? Please only serious answers only. Blessed be thank you so much for your help.

It sounds to me like you need to see a doctor about this. Seriously.

Most women who have cycles less than 25 days or more than 35 days don't ovulate correctly. I would suggest that you go and see your doctor.

I have been trying to get pregnant for 4 years and know more than most people about how the reproductive system works. To me it sounds like something else might be going on. Also you said you have a problem with anorexia, and gave your height and weight. You are underweight. You might be having some side effects from that. Again, talk to your doctor asap!

However pregnancy tests can be wrong. But in this case I don't think you are. There are some websites to check out, www.webmd.com , www.babycenter.com . You can find a lot of information on those sites.

Right now I think you might be suffering from something like the flu (the weather world wide has been crazy!) or some other bacteria or something.

There are also things in our life that can cause a missed or late cycle, and all are perfectly normal. Stress - such as a job change, a break-up, arguments with friends or family. All of those kinds of things can disrupt your cycle, even if you didn't stress that much about it.

The other thing you said is you just gained weight. That can affect your body in many ways, just like losing weight can. Your body has had to undergo a change therefore it is trying to keep up. Hormone levels change, brain chemical levels change, and even the way your body organs opperate change. Your body might be sick right now just getting used to the new weight while it trys to adjust. It sounds like you are actually getting healthier, which is going to take some time. Your body has to come up with energy from somewhere to help heal itself, so it will take it where ever it can get it.

I really suggest you talk to your doctor right away, and be totally honest with them so they can help you. I wouldn't worry about being pregnant though. It really sounds like your body is just recovering.

I am glad to hear that you are gaining weight though. I had a friend who died because of anorexia. It is a real disease and it effects your life in so many ways. I think this might be one of them.

Check out the above websites, especially webmd.com. It has tons of helpful info. Good luck! E-mail if you need more help or anything.

if you're under a lot of stress/pressure, not eating right or sleeping right, or doing strenous exercises [athletic wise] it could affect your period by delaying it. i read somewhere that athletes don't get their period very often or it's extremely irregular, like gymnasts. i would suggest taking another pregnancy test soon and if it still comes up negative, i guess go to the doctors since you said you always get your period on time. 2 weeks late is late by a lot compared to it always being on time!
