I go to a high school that 25% of students do drugs. I have came to the conclusion that teenagers are immature idiots who simply do not know what to do with their lives. I feel that no one understands me and I don't have any real friends, because I can never trust them. Is this normal and does anyone else feel this way?

I can't tell you if it's normal but I can tell you that you're not alone in feeling this way.

Lots of people do feel that way.

I'm 17, but I don't think I'm an immature idiot who doesn't know what I want to do in life. In fact I want to major in pre-med or visual arts w/ a concentration in commercial arts. I think that shows I am at least thinking about my future. I have a boyfriend and many friends who are making plans too. Some teens just take more time to mature or they were raised in a home where their parents didn't care enough to teach them the right things.

( By the way, try talking to the 75% of people who don't do drugs. Maybe you'lll find a friend in there who can stick with you.)

I dont know if this is normal for someone as young as you are to already understand this. Most people dont realize that teenagers dont know anything until they are several years out of highschool. Im not sure if your intuition is a good thing or a bad thing right now. Cause now you dont seem able to enjoy highschool for what it is. Just remember that if you dont care what others think then they tend not to think about it after all. But dont worry, if you dont find anyone that meets your standards right now, keep in mind that they will come along. These same people or others you havent met yet will mature. Maybe you should look for friends that are a little older. But not ones that are older and still immature. :)

I don't think you hate people, I think you're surrounded by people who aren't up to the maturity level you are. There comes a time when people need a realize that you need to grow up and stop acting like a child. High school is there to prepare you for college so you can eventually have a career in the field you want. It's sad that so many teens waste away their education with drugs and poor choices. It's also sad that people who actually take their education seriously are affected by the ones who don't. No one can expect you to want to be friends with people who are on a different page than you. All you can do is be who you are and the people who appreciate that about you, those are your true friends.

I wouldnt say its normal. You are just more mature than their peers and thats a good thing. I understand how you feel. All the kids are trying their best to fit in by hanging out with certain people, wearing certain clothes, doing drugs, etc. They are worried about everything but their school work. At least you know you are on the right track and doing the right thing, be proud of that.

Okay, three things.
1. Too many teenagers are immature idiots, as this site is a prime example of
2. 25%? Get a ******* transfer request in.
3. You can't trust people, that's how the world works.

Yes it is normal - and you are smarter than most of the students at your school because you passed on the drugs and the idiots - hang in there - school will end and then you get to decide that the world of business is full of idiots and people who do drugs!@~

You know, I completely understand what you are saying. I'm much older than you and have a daughter twice your age. I went through this and so did she. I always wondered why people like me can't find eachother while we are going through this. Don't tell too much or give too much of yourself, then it can never be used against you. Hang in there, it will get better after high school. Then you will find people you can relate to. Good Luck!

Yes, I agree with you. I'm in high school and I know some people who started doing drugs and now they act completely different. Yeah, a lot of people in school our age don't know what to do with their lives yet. I don't know what I'm going to do yet either. But I think it is stupid to do drugs and it will completely destroy someone's life. And I know what you mean when you can't trust your friends I can usually trust my friends unless it is something serious then I don't tell them.

It's normal to feel this way. I feel this too and I do talk to some of the people who I think are my friends and it does help even if you feel like their not your real friends.

It's normal, I felt the same way about the people in high school with me. You are smarter and more mature than they are. You will be successful and rise above it all if you keep a positive attitude.
