I think it would cost the workers their jobs and customers would have not Walmarts. There is a store very near my house. It is almost always filled with lower middle class and poor customers. I think a lot of people forget that. If prices go up or stores close down, the standard of living for the poorer people will diminish.

No one is holding a gun to the head of Walmart employees. They can always get a job somewhere else. My area is loaded with retail shopping malls and stores.

Yes, because Unions make the employees pay them for the right to work, costing the corporation more money paying benefits to the workers.

In turn, the loss in money would need to be made up through higher prices given to the customers.

WalMart employees will not start a Union. It is useless to even speculate.

Not necessarily, but both sides would have to be very creative, and cooperative...and from what I've heard about Wal-Mart they would probably try every trick in the book to break any union. In fact they have already done this many times.

If you look at the impact of unionization on other industries, take the automotive industry for example, the answer to your question would have to be a resounding yes.

That could be seen as a good thing for the Walmart employees...and a bad thing for everyone else.

Yes, but Wal-mart could do what Kroger does and have cost-cutter sales. Kroger is one of the biggest grocers in the USA (I live in Ohio) and has been UFCW for as long as I can remember. The UFCW has not closed down Krogers-not even close. There have been a few strikes but they have been resolved.

Probably so. Walmart owners and investors would gripe but they would deny as they always have that the employees have made them a huge living while living themselves, paycheck to paycheck.

YES! So would their standard of living. So would everyone else's. You pay people more money..they have more to spend....and so on and so on...trickle down economics, but this time, for people that really work...

Yep. Unions make everything go up cost wise and bring down companies.
