which will get a "better" job? is more "interesting"? and why?

The first is better if you want to go into marketing.

The second two depend on the school. At The University of Pennsylvania, I would say #2 is better. At MIT or Harvard, #1 is better.

Which is better in your school? The economics department or the Business school?

They're about equal.

Much more important in business careers is your specific skill set and your network.

If your university has different faculty for each of those majors, try to find out which one has the faculty that's most connected and willing to introduce their students to others in the profession. Indicators might include the placement rate of their graduates, the frequency of guest speakers in classes, the existence of professional club for their students, sponsorship of special events where students and professionals meet, professional association memberships among current students.

It's not so much the words on the diploma, it's who you know and what you know.
