Why do liberals believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity?

The liberals believe in: government intervention can somehow help the citizenry; raise taxes to raise funds to pay for social programs; always raise the minimum wage; always have the utilities go public; unions are necessary; taxing the rich (who earn their money by the way); reduce any tax shelters for the rich; mandatory public education; and basically the government should step into private lives all around.

Today's democratic/socialist party believes in a government controlled economy and a government controlled citizenry.

Actually, as a liberal, I believe that businesses and governments can create both oppression and prosperity. A huge multinational corporation can cause destruction just as an out of control government. But businesses are also how people come together to provide goods and services to each other. And governments are how people organize their shared resources in order to better sustain their civilization and quality of life. Socially responsible business should be encouraged by the government, and the government should be the voice of the people.

Basically, a lack of proper education. I am amazed at how little today's young people know about American History and economics. The other is the dis-information that they receive. Socialism hates business and always claims capitalism oppresses the workers etc. I am a high school educated guy who works for a large corporation. I have a good job, own my own home and look forward to a decent retirement. I am sure plenty of people in the world would love that kind of oppression.

I wish people would just beleive their own eyes. How many people have tried to get out of socilaist countries and into the United States?

The ultimate silliness is the constant attacks on corporations. The most hated corporations are publicly traded companies. That means they are already owned by the people!!! Our retirement plans are invested in these companies. Our high standard of living is provided by corporations. We are employed directly or indirectly by corporations.

Go to a corportate supermarket. You will find food and products in great abundance at low prices. Multiple brand names and even food from all over the world. Have a look at the stores in socialist countries.

The same for clothing, automobiles, airplanes, swimming pools, sporting goods etc. Yet liberals believe socialism is the key. There can only be one explaination. They don't really know what socialism is.

Sigh ... the position do you Cons GET this crap? the following is what liberals trust. They (we) trust that unchecked, companies will evolve into marketplace/customer abusing monstrosities and characteristic to be kept in verify. and not using a fantastic authorities searching over their shoulders, the classic organization seems a lot more advantageous like Enron or Worldcomm than something else. without both agencies AND authorities, we are all screwed. it truly is what we trust. Edit: splendid. Enron replaced into no longer in mattress with authorities. authorities regulators really failed at their jobs ... it truly is a a concepts diverse element than sanctioning their practices.
