If you're in college, your school probably subscribes to an online site called CQ Researcher, which specializes in presenting objective background information, and the pro's and con's of contemporary controversial issues. It is quite excellent. You need a password for it, which you should have through your college or university library.

Oh man - there are a lot.....

Abortion, the war in Iraq, Capital Punishment, Religion,.....even Spanking........I, personally, would go for a subject that other classmates would be less likely to write on - so that your paper is not "compared" to others......
