Is there a such thing as instant death? Even if someoneone's head is chopped off, doesn't it take a minute

After your head is chopped off,your brain can continue to function for up to 12 seconds to be exact.


So, i guess if the brain was smashed in an instant...then maybe instant death would occur.

No. There is no such thing as instant death. Tissues and cells have to die , and it takes starvation from the blood supply. how ever if you " chop" some ones head off, it might as well be instant for all practical purposes . Because you are guaranteeing they're death.

i don't think there's such thing as an instant death. I think they call it an instant death because it only takes a couple of seconds to die instead of minutes.

no, I think you are automatically dead. Isn't it better that way anyway. If it took a minute you would feel the pain. That would suck.

UPDATE: Think about it, if someone didn't die right away a guy's head would be able to talk for a little bit. Would be kinda cool.

Ya, I think a person can die instantly in electrocution, especially by a lightning.

no in miami vice they had to like rescue a girl but she was being held hostage (the dude had a gun to her head)so this lady walks in and says she will kill him b4 he even realizes it and then he goes i dont believe you and bamm hes dead(that means he didnt even have time to react and kill the girl he was holding hostage)

i dunno.. i wouldn't doubt it if you are able to think for at least a minute or so after your heart stops beating or oxygen or blood is cut off
