I'm a little biased, but i think it is awesome name. So many choices for nicknames: kat, trina, kate, kate, tree, nina , etc. i just wish people would stop making jokes about the hurricane when i tell them my name. it's not funny!

Katrina is derived from the Greek name Aikaterine or Katerina which translates into English as Katherine or Catherine. Aikaterine emanates from the ward Agne or Kathare which means "Pure." So, I don't really think that Katrina is a bad name.

No - not bad at all...

Now, when I hear the name Katrina - I think of these adjectives:

Fiercely Independent
Nature and Human
Strong
Thorough in her path
Stormy and "deep"
Unpredictable, controversial and clever...

A woman who could really sweep you off your feet!

But also a woman who will triumph against all odds...

(not much of a home-maker though...)

No. It's as good a name as any. It may not be George W. Bush's favorite name, but then- he's not making "George" a family "friendly" name these days- either! Time passes; memories fade, & names go in & out of style. ... :)
