I have not studied Economics, but my guess would be for economic reasons. The demand for cheap labourers, who when forced into submission, were less likely to rebel.

Slaves have provided a cheap workforce for many cultures, for many thousands of years. Money is always the bottom line. Because money, which in prehistoric times was actually the barter system, was a way of representing superiority. Furthermore, I think that Europe did not start the Atlantic slave trade. Slaves have been utilized by the victorious for Milena to increase the "bottom line". Slaves were the property of native African enclaves long before Europeans had ocean going vessels capable of transversing the expanse of oceans. There are no documented records that will validate your proposition, although i agree that Europeans did utilize slave labor and participate in marketing them, when they developed the sugar cane fields in the Caribbean. I repeat, money is always the bottom line.

for them to become great. Having slaves in that time aside from lessening work, it symbolizes wealth. And also to make profit for they sell these slaves in europe and some parts of the US. And also maybe because they cant just get european slaves for europeans are all wealthy. Instead they take other people from parts of ghana, ivory coast etc. to be slaves for they are considered ''low beings'' in that time. poor slaves...

Mainly to have workers in the new colonised land. Most of the Indigenous people would not work forcibly, in the case of Brazil, many Indigenous died after first contact, because of diseases contracted from the Europeans, and that they couldn't visualise work like we do. They would prefer to die than to become a slave. Slaves worked in farms, in plantations, in the up keeping of the farm etc. Many women became surrogate mothers for the white kids of landowners.

well the same reason the US allows the abundance of illegal immigrant into our country..cheap/hardworking labor..

the south main cash crop was cotton...they needed a cheap workforce to do the grueling work of picking the fields..something most southerns thought beneath them..
so the plantation owners started to import great numbers of slaves from africa.

to the slaver..it was a good return on their investment...pay fellow africian americans to run down the slaves..bind them..pack as many as one could in a ship and then sell them off at auction..

Arabs started it. Europeans picked up on it from Arab and Jew slave traders who have been involved in the slave trade for millenia. They still are involved in white slavery in SE Asia and Eastern Europe.

If you are speaking of the slave trade from Africa to the Americas then it was the British who needed workers for their sugar plantations so they could have sugar in their tea.
