Try solving for Y then graphing it.

Y=(2-x)/-2

Graph it from there

First, you should write the equation in a standard form. For graphing, this is a good one:

y = mx + c
where m is the slope (how much y changes every time x changes by 1) and c is the intercept (the value on the y axis where the oine 'intercepts' the axis = value of y when x = 0)

in this case:
x -2y = 2
move y:
x = 2 + 2y
move 2
x - 2 = 2y
divide everything by 2:
(1/2)x - 1 = y
flip it around:
y = (1/2) - 1

On graph paper, the x axis is horizontal and y axis is vertical, where both axes meet, x=0 and y=0

from the equation, we know that the line will cross the vertical axis at the value -1.

Then, for every step to the right (x increases by 1 at each step), y will increase by half a step.
If you prefer, you can go two steps right in x for one step up in y

So the points will be:

x, y
0, -1 (from the equation)
2, 0
4, 1
6, 2

etc.
Use a ruler and draw the entire line along that slope. Unless you are very poor as drawing straight line (as I am), you should be able to use to graph to check itself.

Go to x = -4, what is the value of y on the graph? SHould be very close to -3.

check your original equation

x - 2y = (-4) -2*(-3) = (-4) -(-6) = -4 +6 = 2
OK

Easiest Way First Point Make x=0 when x=0 0+2y=-2 2y=-2 y=-2/2 y=-1 mark a point on y axis where y=-1 now make y=0 x+0=-2 x=-2 now mark a point on x axis where x=-2 joint these two marked point, here you go with a graph of x+2y=-2

If you want it in y=mx+b form, it would be y=-1/2x-1. This means the slope is that for every 1 you go down, you go two over, and it crosses the y axes at negative 1. You could keep it in this format and figure out that if x is 0 then y is -1, and if y is 0, then x is 2. Put points at each of these coordinates (0,-1) and (2,0) and put a line through them.

x - 2y = 2
2y = x - 2
y = (1/2)x - 1

Now you have y as a function of x. You can see that this is a linear equation, and it has intercepts of (0, -1) and (2, 0). So just plot those two points and draw a line going through them

Get it to be just a y= problem.

x-2y=2
- Subtract x from both sides

-2y=2-x
- Divide by -2

y=(2-x)/-2
or
y=(-2+x)/2

Graph
