I just got over 3 weeks of flu! Worst I've ever experienced. My senses were working this time because this flu was especially phlemmy and I did not touch dairy - even yogurt. I drank what seemed like gallons of juice. Not just fruit, but vegetable as well. I hear saunas are great for congestion, but if you don't feel like dragging your poor, beleaguered body outside then a portable will do. Put a towel over your head to trap vapor, put a big round tablespoon of Vicks Vapo Rub into a pot of water on the stove and you have a nice face sauna at least. Also apply the Vicks on chest, lung area on your back and around your nose before bedtime and also a product called Airborne helps. And last, drink plenty of fluids, eat mostly chicken soup (noodles or rice).

Trust me this works, if you try it its healthy and is great, I never have a cold or if i start to it is completely gone in one day. Take this if you start to get a cold 3 times a day and if you have a bad cold take it 3 times a day for 3 or more days until your cold is gone. Get a big mug, boil the water and put a chicken bovril in the mug and put in a 1/2 of teaspoon of pureed garlic and a 1/2 of teaspoon of pureed ginger in the mug with boiling water stir and drink it as above. Make sure you eat any garlic or ginger left in the mug. The garlic will eliminate the virus from your blood stream and you will be better in no time. It works, take care Heather

Drink a lot of Orange Juice...and eat hot peppers straight from the jar. The hotter the better. They will kill all the germs that caused the cold. I have been eating Jalepenos like that since I was little. I hardly ever get a cold and when I do they only last a day.

I drink a LOT of water, orange juice and hot tea and of
course........chicken soup, that works for me!
It's like I am drowning the cold. Most colds run a
duration of almost a week. A cold is nature's way
of ridding the body of toxins. It's best to let it run
it's course. I don't think there is anyway to speed
the process. Of course, if a cold lingers more than
a week and a half you better get to a doctor.

I knew this one guy who told me the most effective way of getting rid of a cold and preventing getting colds is to take a clove of garlic (as you would a pill) and drink a full glass of water. He said he hasnt had a cold in over 20 years?

If yours is really a COLD as in catch a cold while in the rain or something, then boil a few slices of ginger with water. drink the ginger water. If too bitter, add abit honey. Drink at least 2 or 3 times. ginger kills cold.

High dose intravenous Vitamin C. Worked great for me, just last week. To be effective, it must be given intravenously because oral doses of Vitamin C cannot produce blood levels that are high enough to be effective.
